Detroit Lions 2025 schedule

Listen up, Pride! The wait is over. The Detroit Lions’ 2025 schedule is officially here, and it reflects just how far this team has come since its historic NFC Championship appearance.

With five primetime games, two holiday matchups, and seven standalone broadcasts, the Lions have earned a spotlight season that fans across Michigan have waited decades to see.

The main events: primetime and holiday showcases

The Lions will appear in seven standalone games, including a franchise-record five primetime slots:

  • Week 2: at Falcons — Mon, Sept. 15, 8:15 PM (ESPN)
  • Week 7: vs. Eagles — Sun, Oct. 19, 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 9: at Vikings — Thurs, Oct. 30, 8:15 PM (Amazon Prime)
  • Week 11: vs. Packers — Sun, Nov. 16, 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 13: vs. Bears — Thurs, Nov. 27, 12:30 PM (CBS)Thanksgiving
  • Week 17: at Vikings — Thurs, Dec. 25, 4:30 PM (FOX)Christmas

“Seven standalone games? Ten years ago, we couldn’t even get a decent timeslot when we were winning,” said longtime season ticket holder Dwayne Johnson. “This feels like joining the big boys’ table.”

The Thanksgiving tradition continues — with a twist

The Lions will host their 86th Thanksgiving game when they take on the Chicago Bears in Week 13 — a classic divisional matchup that revives an old-school NFC North rivalry.

But that’s not all. For the first time in franchise history, the Lions will also play on Christmas Day, traveling to Minnesota for a festive Thursday double-dip against the Vikings.

“My family knows better than to schedule anything during Lions games anyway,” joked Sandy Williams, president of the Northern Michigan Lions Backers Club.

The home slate: Ford Field frenzy

Here’s what’s lined up for the fans in Detroit this year:

  • Week 1: vs. 49ers — Sun, Sept. 7, 4:25 PM (FOX)
  • Week 3: vs. Colts — Sun, Sept. 21, 1:00 PM (CBS)
  • Week 7: vs. Eagles — Sun, Oct. 19, 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 11: vs. Packers — Sun, Nov. 16, 8:20 PM (NBC)
  • Week 13: vs. Bears — Thurs, Nov. 27, 12:30 PM (CBS)
  • Week 15: vs. Buccaneers — Sun, Dec. 14, 1:00 PM (FOX)
  • Week 18: vs. Vikings — Sun, Jan. 4, TBD

That Week 1 showdown with San Francisco promises fireworks, while the Week 18 finale against Minnesota could decide the NFC North title.

  • Week 9: at Vikings — Oct. 30
  • Week 11: vs. Packers — Nov. 16
  • Week 12: at Packers — Nov. 23
  • Week 13: vs. Bears — Nov. 27
  • Week 17: at Vikings — Dec. 25

  • Week 5 byeSept. 29–Oct. 5

The early bye follows a West Coast trip and leads into divisional play. Not ideal timing, but a good breather after a physical opening stretch.
